Hot Rod Reunion Famoso Raceway

Adam Caldwell and I headed up to Famoso Raceway near Bakersfield for the Hot Rod Reunion. HRR is nostalgia racing at its best, front engine dragsters, altereds and gassers all like we used to watch when we were younger. For more pictures got to Hot Rod Hotline at this link: www.hotrodhotline.com/feature/2008show/08chrrsam

Good Guys Pleasanton Car Show

Pleasanton GoodGuys rolled around and we headed up Thurs. with a few other street rodding folks. There we met other of our friends who came earlier. Pleasanton is probably the best show in Ca. for size (about 3000 cars) and setting. The fair grounds are really nice compared to other shows. Our friends from Australia made the trip up also, they loved it. Will be back next year as always. Check out my other pics at www.hotrodhotline.com/feature/2008show/08pleasantonsam/ Also went to Blackhawk Museum too check pics at www.hotrodhotline.com/feature/2008show/08blackhawkmuseum

Ventura Highwaymen

Mark and Mary Novak had this banner made for hanging on our pop ups at car shows. Now everyone can tell the Police who was making all that noise. This photo was taken at West Coast Kustoms "Crusin Nationals" in Santa Maria, which used to be called "PASO". For car pics click on this link..

Weekend Of Wheels In Laughlin

We headed to Laughlin, Nv. for a car show and some gambling, just us. First time show so only 425 cars spread out over several casinos made it seem small. It should be better next year.. Spent more on ga$ then anything else, it was a fun time though......Check http://www.hotrodhotline.com/feature/2008show/08laughlinsam

March Meet Drag Races

Adam, one of the Ventura Highwaymen, and myself headed up to Famoso Raceway for the 50th March Meet. The weather was outstanding as was the racing. The day was marred however when a Top Fuel driver lost his life while racing. Long way to go but well worth the drive. You can view more of my photos at www.hotrodhotline.com/feature/2008show/08marchmeetsam/

Auto Club Signs

I have collected signs for a long time, my favorite signs are L.A.P.D marked signs and Automobile Club of Southern California marked signs. A.C.S.C. provided signs for roads for many years prior to cities, counties or the state providing these. I have these in this garage amongst my Police Call Boxes and Fire Alarm boxes.

Sam Flowers' 1941 Graham Hollywood

I have always wanted a Graham Hollywood since I first laid eyes on one in high school in 1959. I got this one from Ok. several years ago and has been my primary car show car since. Chev. 350/700R4, Chev. rear, power disc., IFS suspension, air, XM and more. Drives good, comfortable and not the run-of-the-mill rod for sure.

VAMPIRA

Maila Nurmi portrayed "Vampira" on Channel 7 in L.A. in 1953-4. She was the original ghoulish host which spawned many imitators including "Elvira". Vampira sadly passed away on 1-10-2008 after 86 years on this planet. I remember sneaking out of bed and hiding behind the couch so I could watch her as this was a late night program. I would get caught by my mother usually, but was able to watch many times without getting caught.
